Title:
Fire Danger Index - NOAA - South America
Created:
Tue Mar 09 00:00:00 GMT 2010
Detailed information
Product description:
The 10 day Fire Danger Index (FDI) image is obtained as the accumulated value of the fractional increment of the decadal NDVI (NDVIpres - NDVIprev) / (NDVIpres) among two consecutive decades (present and previous in the formula above). The accumulation process starts by the middle of the spring. The more negative the FDI the higher the risk of having a fire event. The output images are classified in four danger categories. The FDI is defined for grasslands and forestry areas, excluding intensive crop production areas. Can be used free-of-charge, but may not be (re-)sold. Please acknowledge INTA in publications.
